| Firefighters to be at local Wal-Marts to collect toys for needy kids - Las Vegas Sun Posted: 30 Nov 2010 10:54 AM PST Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010 | 8:55 a.m. The Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation recently kicked off its ninth annual Fill the Fire Truck Toy Drive, aiming to provide toys for 24,000 local children this holiday season. Las Vegas residents are encouraged to donate new, unwrapped toys and gift cards at select Wal-Mart locations around the valley each weekend through Dec. 19. The gifts should be for children ages 13 and younger. Gift cards must be in $10 increments or less. Firefighters will collect the toy donations on Dec. 4 and 5, 11 and 12 and 18 and 19 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the following Wal-Mart locations: • 7200 Arroyo Cross Parkway • 8060 W. Tropical Parkway • 6464 N. Decatur Blvd. • 4350 N. Nellis Blvd. • 540 Marks St. Last year, the toy drive provided toys to more than 20,000 children of low-income families throughout Southern Nevada. The Firefighters of Southern Nevada Burn Foundation is a non-profit organization consisting of firefighters from Las Vegas Fire and Rescue, and the Clark County, North Las Vegas, Nellis and Henderson fire departments. The organization, in conjunction with the local Red Cross chapter, helps sick or injured children through financial aid, clothing and furniture donations. The foundation has helped more than 40,000 Las Vegas valley residents in the last two year and raised more than $1.15 million for the Southern Nevada community since 2003.
