Northern York County Regional Police are looking for Tammy L. White of North York and are asking for your help.

White has been charged with leaving her children home alone for several days while she went to Atlantic City. Northern York County Regional Police took 40-year-old White into custody at her home Monday evening. She was arraigned before District Judge Kim Leppo on three counts of endangering the welfare of children. White posted $20,000 bail and fled.

Police were called to White's home in the 1200 block of North George Street on Sunday morning after police were alerted that the children in the home had been left alone since Friday, March 11th. Upon arrival, they found three children, ages 12, 11 and 4, home alone.

According to court documents, White leaves the children unattended for days at a time on a weekly basis and on Sunday, two other children, friends of White's oldest child, were also in the home. The children said their mother had left on Friday for Atlantic City and they had not heard from her since. Officers took the children into protective custody, and they were later released to their aunt.

Lt. David Lash said the children seemed to deal OK with being left alone. "The home was kind of a mess, but the children seemed health-wise to be fine," he said. "There was food in the house." But court documents state that the house was "extremely unorganized" and there were various items, clothes and dog feces on the floor. Lash said there was no phone in the house, so there was no way for the children to contact their mother or anyone else. White had told the kids she'd be back Sunday evening, he said.

Police contacted the York County Office of Children, Youth and Families, and a worker said White already was under investigation because of previous incidents. White was charged with three counts of endangering the welfare of children in 2009. Those charges were withdrawn in 2010, according to court records, although the reason for the withdrawal was not clear.

Police are asking for your help to find Tammy L. White. Anyone with information as to the whereabouts of Tammy L. White is asked to call 911 or visit the Northern York County Regional Police website at www.nycrpd.org.
