| Coats for Kids drive at Sherborn Community Center - Abington Mariner Posted: 23 Nov 2010 09:29 AM PST Winter is coming and unfortunately, some children won't be able to stay warm and bundled up in a cozy winter jacket. The Student Directors at the Sherborn Community Center want to change that. The center is announcing a clothing drive specifically targeted to these children in need. This drive will be in partnership with Cradles to Crayons, a nonprofit organization with a mission to provide the basic needs to children from newborns to the age of 12. Coats for Kids clothing drive Co-Chairwoman Devin Collins was instrumental in getting this drive to happen, saying "Let's focus this year on a community wide program." Co-Chairwoman Leah Byrnes participated in a church youth group mission for Cradles to Crayons in April that inspired her to try to continue giving back to this charity. "This is a perfect opportunity for the student director program to do something meaningful for the community and make an impact on the lives that need it the most," she said. Please consider donating children's winter jackets and coats that are in good condition to this worthy cause. The Coats for Kids clothing drive has already started with drop-off boxes placed at various businesses and churches in both Dover and Sherborn. Sherborn drop-off boxes are at Town Hall, Pilgrim Church, Unitarian Universalist Area Church, Sherborn Sandwich Company, Post Office, and the Sherborn Library. Drop-off locations for Dover are Chickering School, Dover-Sherborn Middle School, Dover-Sherborn High School, Town Hall, Dover Church, Most Precious Blood Church, Dover Market, Post Office, and the Dover Library. In addition to these locations, there will be two days designated for drop-off at the Sherborn Community Center: Friday, Dec. 17, from 4-7 p.m., and Saturday, Dec. 18, from 8 a.m.-2:30 p.m. If you have any questions, please feel free to e-mail Info@SherbornCommunityCenter.com.
