| Where to shop in Charlotte for unique tastes - Examiner Posted: 18 May 2010 09:56 AM PDT If you are a fashionista with a distinctive style, Charlotte offers a nice variety of places to shop and keep up with current trends and fashion. A good option might be a boutique or consignment shop. Boutique retailers are often times a lot more 'cozy' and offer more options in terms of current styles for purchase. The Charlotte are has quite a few boutiques to choose from. Many of them offer specialty items such as clothing for taller people, kids clothing or even shoes. A great resource for locating boutiques is the website, www.boutiquedirectory.org, which lists boutiques in your area by state. Several boutiques came up often in my search, but one in particular, Fresh Boutique seemed to be a great example of unique style and trends. Fresh is located on Providence Road in Myers Park. They feature many upscale designers such as Juicy Couture, Theory or Alice and Olivia. Aside from the brand name apparel, you can also find a variety of accessories like jewelry or handbags. When interviewing the owner of Fresh Boutique as well as another boutique, Avalillys, Emily Haggart, she shared that Fresh has been around for over 9 years. Some of the great services that Haggart's boutiques offer is truly an attention to customer service with personal shopping or even notification of offers and merchandise specific to certain customers. Some of her customers have been with her since she opened over 9 years ago; Fresh seems like the neighborhood 'Cheers' where everybody knows your name! Avalillys is also unique in its approach by offering boutique buyouts from over 100 other boutiques. This allows for an even wider selection in a still comfortable, friendly atmosphere with all the other customer service perks! In addition, Fresh makes an effort to be active and supportive of the community they serve with special events and guests that visit the store. In 2009, they store hosted a book signing for chef and celebrity/reality show star Bethenny Frankel. Next week, they are hosting a 'Sex and the City 2' movie party complete with pre and after parties as well as a private pre-screening of the movie. Proceeds of this event will benefit the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society. Their first highly successful event took place with the release of 'Sex and the City's' first movie and raised over $40,000! Tickets to this year's event on May 26th are $100 each and afford you admission to both parties and the screening as well as goody bags and participation in contests for giveaways associated with the event. They can be purchased at both Fresh and Avalillys as well as Monkees boutique. If you are looking for a smaller, more intimate and unique shopping experience, shop around at a boutique and see what you find.
